THE MATRYOSHKA BOXES

THE MATRYOSHKA BOXES

Exhibition displays demand scale and drama. But before and after the fair, we face the real challenge: shipping, storage, and inevitable waste.

With the team, we designed a system of boxes with precisely calculated dimensions. Each one is crafted to sit seamlessly on top of the other, following the golden ratio. When stacked, it forms a landscape that houses Anantaya's objects in a clear but layered manner.

The volumes are modular, flexible, and easy to assemble with no binding.

When the exhibition closes, the boxes open and collapse inward like Russian dolls. A pavilion that once filled the floor condenses into just three large crates, compact and ready to ship back.

THE
NO CARCASS
BOOTH

Design exhibitions require elaborate booths. Having worked on a few exhibition projects, we identified that these booths have short-lived lives and generate long term waste.

With the team, we designed a booth around the idea of raw material: a simple metal grid that holds standard size plywood sheets without any permanent fixing. After the exhibition, the panels unclip, flatten, and are shipped back to AKFD’s workshop.

The same modular booth was reimagined for Design Democracy 2024

The calculated dimensions need the panels to curve to fit within the frame, forming beautiful, soft volumes.

THE EARTH
THE AIR

This booth brought Anantaya and AKFD together in a single space. Two brands, two temperaments — one ethereal, the other grounded.

The translation was literal. AKFD’s products were displayed low, directly on the floor, functional and rooted. Anantaya’s objects floated above, suspended in sheets of fabric, light and otherworldly.

A statement of earth and air, weight and weightlessness, two worlds in conversation with each other.

This idea of weightlessness inspired our first experiment with fabric as a display system for Anantaya

Exhibition design often leans on hard partitions and heavy frames. Fabric offered us a different possibility- light, flexible, and spatially fluid.

This installation explored hanging fabric as both divider and display. Objects floating against translucent backdrops, and shelves appeared to hover within sheets. The system was simple to transport and assembles without any permanent binding

It was our second experiment with fabric walls, and the first time we introduced dyeing techniques. What began as an exhibition tool has since grown into a defining language of Anantaya’s visual identity in spatial design.
